Boiler Servicing

A yearly boiler service by Gas Safe registered engineers, to keep your boiler safe, running efficiently and covered by its manufacturer's warranty.

A yearly service that catches boiler problems early

Most boilers break down in the first cold snap, after months of light use over the summer. Yearly boiler servicing is the simplest way to avoid that. A Gas Safe registered engineer checks your boiler is burning gas safely, cleans the parts that wear, and spots small faults before they become a cold house and a repair bill.

It keeps your paperwork in order too. Most manufacturers ask for a yearly service by a Gas Safe registered engineer to keep the warranty valid, and a buyer or insurer may ask to see a service history. REGH is a Gas Safe registered heating firm based in Bradford, serving Pudsey, Farsley and Brighouse and the surrounding area.

  • Combi, system and regular (heat-only) gas boilers
  • LPG boilers in homes off the gas grid
  • Flue, ventilation and combustion checks
  • Testing of the safety devices and controls
  • Cleaning of the burner, heat exchanger and condensate trap

How a boiler service with us works

01

Book a time

Use our contact form or give us a ring and pick a slot that suits you. We're open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm.

02

Visual and safety checks

The engineer looks over the boiler, pipework, flue and ventilation for signs of leaks, corrosion, scorching or soot.

03

Inside the boiler

With the casing off, the engineer inspects and cleans the burner, heat exchanger and condensate trap, and checks the seals.

04

Testing and tuning

A flue gas analyser shows how cleanly the boiler is burning. Gas pressure and the safety devices are tested against the manufacturer's figures.

05

Report and advice

We explain what we found in plain terms. If anything needs fixing, we talk you through it before doing any more work.

Why homeowners book their boiler service with us

Gas Safe registered

REGH is on the Gas Safe Register, number 537239, so your boiler is serviced by engineers qualified to work on gas.

Accredited with the big boiler brands

We're accredited installers for Worcester Bosch, Baxi and Vaillant, and service each boiler to its manufacturer's instructions.

Repairs and new boilers from the same team

If the service turns up a fault, we repair boilers and fit new ones too, so you don't have to start again with someone else.

Open six days a week

We're open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm, so it's easier to fit a service around work.

Boiler service or gas safety check?

The two are easy to mix up. A gas safety check, the yearly record landlords must have, tests that gas appliances are safe to use. A boiler service goes further: the engineer opens the boiler up, cleans it and checks it's running as well as it should. Homeowners don't need a gas safety record by law, but a yearly service covers the same safety checks on your boiler. If you're a landlord, see our Landlord Gas Safety Certificates page and ask about both when you book.

Signs your boiler needs looking at before its service is due

Don't wait for the yearly visit if you see a yellow or orange flame instead of a crisp blue one, or black marks and soot on or around the boiler. Other warning signs are pressure on the gauge that keeps dropping, banging, whistling or gurgling noises, and a boiler that locks out or needs resetting often.

For faults like these, see our Boiler Repair page. If you smell gas or your carbon monoxide alarm goes off, turn the gas off at the meter, open the windows, leave the house and call the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999.

What affects the cost of a boiler service

The cost depends on the type of boiler, how easy it is to get to, and how well it's been looked after. A boiler that hasn't been serviced for a few years can take longer to clean, and may need new seals or a blocked condensate trap cleared. If a part needs replacing, we'll explain why and what it costs before going ahead. Skipping the service rarely saves money in the end, because a neglected boiler burns more gas and is more likely to fail in winter.
